Livingston getting into the zone

The battle over zoning in Livingston Parish is ramping up with council members working to pass zoning maps in their individual districts as others threaten to sue to allow for more growth.

Many area residents have been opposed to rapid development in the parish that they believe threatens the community's rural ethos. But developers have insisted their projects will be a boon for the economy.

District 5 council member Erin Sandefur has called on her constituents to come speak during Thursday's council meeting in support of her zoning map.


Video of an attack on an area bus driver has surfaced on social media, leading a top Baton Rouge leader to say something needs to be done about attacks on school staff.

The video is particularly troubling because a parent was involved, said LaMont Cole, mayor pro tem and leader of the Metro Council

The video shows a person who appears to be a parent begin punching the bus driver repeatedly, and at least one student joins in. It was not immediately clear which school's students were on the bus.


LSU women's basketball coach Kim Mulkey won a national championship. Now she wants a better home for the Tigers

Mulkey says the school either needs to build a new basketball arena or renovate the current Pete Maravich Assembly Center, which opened in January 1972.

"We’ve got to get this ball rolling,” she told a Rotary Club of Baton Rouge luncheon.
