Dear John, How do you know — I mean really KNOW — that your life matters, that you are living on purpose for a purpose? How do you know that you are making a difference? Here’s the thing about my dad: HE KNEW! Every second of every day was driven by purpose and filled with purpose. I don’t know about you, but I want that! A couple of weeks ago, I read a great blog post by Fred Smith Jr. entitled What Matters. Fred is the son of Fred Smith, who was Dad’s mentor and the wisest man I ever met. Fred Jr. really inspired me by succinctly stating what really matters. I will paraphrase what Fred said, and I believe this is the clearest formula I have ever seen on how to live a life of purpose: The 3 Keys to a Life That Matters Key #1 - Know the source of your gifts and talents. When you have a vibrant relationship with your Creator, your gratitude overflows when you recognize the gifts and talents He has given you. Key #2 - Develop your gifts and talents with GRIT. Grit is that dogged determination and discipline that keeps you on-track and focused on learning and doing the things necessary to develop your gifts, talents, skills, and character qualities you need to achieve your goals and dreams. Key #3 - Share your gifts and talents with humility and love. This changes everything, because now you are helping others to be, do, and have more than they thought possible. How you share is up to you, but no matter how you share, humility and love are a must. Looking at Dad’s life, this pretty much sums up how he lived on purpose and for a purpose every day. What about you? Are you ready to make 2018 the best year of your life and the launching pad into a future that really matters? I have good news for you... I’d like to help you make that happen!
