| Lish Fejer talks getting out and about with ABC Canberra |
After a year of staying in our hermetically sealed studio bubble, I can’t tell you how great it is to be let out of the office. As part of Your Stories Canberra, the entire ABC Canberra team have been going out and about discovering the parts of our community that make it home. It started with West Belconnen where we shared hot potato scallops, stories and a love of the region. I also realised if I could become a brand ambassador for anything, it would be the local chicken shop (I’m still waiting for my call!). Next stop was to the South West to Weston Creek – again meeting some early birds and our wonderful, engaging, connected and committed community of listeners. And we’re coming to you. We’ve got three more stops lined up – Tuggeranong, Queanbeyan and Gungahlin. So come and say hello. Whatever bits of the audio buffet you’re into … thanks for #lishening. Tune into Breakfast with Lish Fejer on 666AM, online, or via the ABC listen app, |

What makes Canberra's local shops work? |
Many of our neighbourhoods are designed around them, and they provide services like grocers, hairdressers and butchers in a smaller setting. But as the territory becomes more centralised and bigger shopping centres open, local shops in the area have been forced to adapt or close. Find out whether these small, suburban shopping centres are viable in 2021 – and if so, what makes them work? |

ACT police warn social media-fuelled teenage violence is becoming more common |
What started with a flurry of aggressive social media messages between two groups of Canberra teenagers ended with a vicious brawl that left an 18-year-old dead and a teenager seriously injured. Psychologists believe confrontations have developed from fundamental changes in the way teenagers interact, and police fear they have become increasingly difficult to prevent. |

Canberrans with a disability are 'trapped' in their housing, but new rules could change that |
Canberrans with physical disabilities often need to build their own homes or end up in public housing, according to advocates, but proposed new national requirements may force builders to construct all new homes to accessible standards. The reforms could require new homes to be built with wider doors, no entry steps and ground floor bathrooms. |
