Get your latest Baton Rouge headlines here
with Kelly P. Kissel | Metro editorGood day to you. I hope you have made it deeply into your pre-Thanksgiving mode. (I'm three pies behind but hope to get caught up tonight.) Here are some of our top headlines: LINE IN THE SAND: Republican lawmakers are unhappy with the state Health Department's decision to add the COVID-19 vaccine to the list of shots required before students can attend a school, daycare or university. One state representative called it "a line in the sand" and a state senator threatened to cut the agency's budget. Louisiana already requires other vaccines, and the governor says it would be "absolutely foolish" to not protect children from the coronavirus. IT'S THE BOMB: An Alabama student accused of calling in a bomb threat during an LSU game in 2019 is apologizing to Baton Rouge residents. Here's what happened. NOW THAT’S A PO-BOY: From the turkey to the cornbread dressing to crawfish to satsuma-cranberry sauce, JED’s Local Po’Boys stuffs it all on Leidenheimer bread and serves it in November, giving some of the profits to the Capital Area United Way. Find out more about this eatery (and this sandwich) here. |
