AI Summit Unites the Triangle to Tackle AI's Big Questions
Hosted by Provost Alec Gallimore on May 30, the Triangle AI Summit was a gathering of researchers, experts, and educators from across the Triangle sharing the innovative ways they are using and developing AI. Drawing over 450 registrants, the Summit included showcases of the classroom AI applications, workshops on using AI for daily tasks, and thoughtful panel discussions on the impacts of AI on society and its role in accelerating scientific discovery. The event sparked deeper engagement with AI and future collaborations across the Triangle to contend with AI’s challenges and potential. Making AI Generative for Higher Education: Ithaka S+R Research Results Now Available
In October 2023, LILE announced that, in collaboration with the Duke Libraries, we would join 18 other institutions of higher education in contributing toward Ithaka-S+R’s study, Making AI Generative for Higher Education. The final report is now available, which offers insight on how instructors and researchers are using generative AI in their work, as well as the challenges they currently face related to the technology. The study also reveals which support resources instructors and researchers are relying on and which resources they feel are still lacking. |
Cohort Considers the Impact of Generative AI on the Faculty Experience
The Duke Faculty Academy brought together eight faculty across the disciplines to discuss how generative AI impacts the faculty experience. Organized by the Office for Faculty Advancement, the Academy is a new professional development program designed to help participants develop creative solutions to issues that impact the faculty experience. The cohort was advised by Yakut Gazi and Jon Reifschneider. In the fall, the cohort will work with LILE to lead learning communities for faculty around aspects of generative AI based on the list of entry point questions developed over the last year. |

All events are open to all, online and in Eastern time unless otherwise noted. |
