POV wins IDA Award for Best Curated Series!

POV won the 2015 IDA Award for Best Curated Series, sharing the honor with Independent Lens at the 31st Annual International Documentary Association Awards on Dec. 5 in Los Angeles. The award marks POV's third series win: POV was previously honored in 2009 and 2011. Produced by American Documentary, Inc. (AmDoc), POV begins its 29th season on PBS in 2016. Two additional AmDoc-produced projects, POV Interactive Documentaries and the America ReFramed series, were nominated for IDA Awards for the first time. See the full list of winners here.

Strength, resilience, courage of the human spirit reflected in America ReFramed encores

The season of America ReFramed continues with encore broadcasts of films about inspiring individuals across the country: adaptive sports athletes in Endless Abilities (dir. Zachary Bastion, Tripp Clemens and Harvey Burrell) on Tuesday, Dec. 22; a man and his dying wish for the earth in A Will for the Woods (dir. Amy Browne, Jeremy Kaplan, Tony Hale and Brian Wilson) on Tuesday, Dec. 29; and the people behind the wheels of New York City's iconic taxi cabs in Drivers Wanted (Dir. Joshua Z. Weinstein) on Tuesday, Jan. 5.

POV films available for streaming over the holidays

Say goodbye to 2015 with nine feature-length documentaries from POV, including films from our 28th season on PBS and our archive, all available online for free. As always, we're also streaming more than 36 short documentaries from independent filmmakers.

'Don’t Tell Anyone' kicks off 2016 Target First Saturdays at the Brooklyn Museum

Don't Tell Anyone (No Le Digas a Nadie), Mikaela Shwer's acclaimed film about immigration activist Angy Rivera, will open Brooklyn Museum's Target First Saturdays program in 2016 with a screening on Saturday, Jan. 2 at 8 p.m., followed by a Q&A with Rivera. Target First Saturdays brings engaging and eclectic free art and entertainment programs every month to Brooklyn Museum, from 5 to 11 p.m.

CPB's 'Veterans Coming Home' series seeking team for spring project

"Veterans Coming Home," the Corporation for Public Broadcasting's multi-platform, digital storytelling project, led by Kindling Group in Chicago and produced by Whiteness Project director Whitney Dow, is seeking a team of three veterans and two civilians to fill full-time creator/participant positions for a 13-week project starting March 1. "Veterans Coming Home" is an exciting digital series tracking these veterans' and civilians' journeys across the nation, capturing stories that explore and bridge the military-civilian divide. People with a strong sense of civic duty and experience making media of all kinds—video, audio, writing, photography and social media—are encouraged to apply to be part of this dynamic team. POV is now accepting applications for winter/spring 2016 internships on a rolling basis through April 1, 2016! For summer internships, apply by May 1.
