I tweaked an old Lebanese kabob-type recipe and used a whole chicken so I could just marinate it, throw it in the oven, and forget about it. I served it with some warm flatbread and yogurt. I love using the roasted chicken's super flavourful bones and pieces to make a hearty chicken broth for another meal. I butterflied my chicken for more uniform cooking. You also get better results for crispy skin this way, if you're into it.

The pumpkin theme is definitely my favorite for fall, in the classroom. After providing real pumpkins for hands on exploration, I give the students many opportunities to paint with fall colors and different types of materials. One of the most adorable crafts has to be these pumpkins painted using soda bottle caps.

I wrap tablespoon portions in plastic wrap and store them in a freezer bag. They stay a long time and there is no waste.

When packing glass dishes, use paper towels to wrap them in. That way, you don't have to wash them and you can still use the paper towel.
Here is a cute Halloween craft using paper plates and hand tracings. Learn how to make it in this short video.

Peel a Cutie mandarin orange, then stick a sprig of cilantro (or parsley) into the center. It's an instant pumpkin. :) My daughter made this at dinner the other night and I think it would be perfect around Halloween as a non-sugary treat or as a decoration for a meal in the fall.
