Our Holiday Open Office Hours

After the Fall semester ends, we’re taking a break over the winter holidays but will return with extra hours in January to support you as the Spring semester begins. Accordingly, there will be no office hours December 27 - 31, and then twice-daily office hours January 4 - 7 from 10 am to 12 pm and 1 to 3 pm (all times Eastern). And in the spirit of rest, we hope to see you at our De-stress Drop-in for Duke Instructors on December 7 (more info in 'Upcoming Events' below).

'Tis the Season for Proposals

Learning Innovation and our partners have many exciting programs planned for 2022 that are currently accepting proposals. We look forward to seeing how your ideas will transform learning at Duke.
Summer Course Development Grants

Summer Course Development Grants

Due Date: December 10, 2021
Duke's Offices of Undergraduate Education and Interdisciplinary Studies, in partnership with Duke Learning Innovation, are offering Summer Course Development Grants (SCDGs) during Summer 2022 to schools, departments and other units that offer undergraduate curricula. These grants seek to foster the development or redesign of summer session courses that:
  • Align with the curricular priorities of the school, department or other unit,
  • Have a good chance of attracting significant student interest from year to year,
  • Incorporate innovative pedagogical approaches, which may include asynchronous components as part of an in-person class experience, or the development of hybrid courses,
  • Will be taught by one or more Ph.D. students on a regular basis, beginning in Summer 2023.
The 2022 Pandemic Pedagogy Research Symposium

The 2022 Pandemic Pedagogy Research Symposium: From Innovation to Transformation

Due Date: January 18, 2022
As we look toward the next academic year, we are confronted with the challenge of how to scale the best new pedagogies and technologies and make them a part of the university experience for more students. How do we move from innovation to real transformation? The 2022 Pandemic Pedagogy Research Symposium invites original submissions that address this critical question through empirical research and translational analyses.
Collaborative Project Courses

Collaborative Project Courses Faculty Fellowship

Due Date: January 31, 2022
The Collaborative Project Courses Faculty Fellows Program provides support and a peer learning community for faculty who are interested in designing Collaborative Project Courses – courses in which student learning is driven by collaborative engagement with applied projects that extend across an entire semester. Participating faculty will receive $5,000; support and guidance from pedagogy experts and faculty experienced in this form of teaching; the option to request funding for a doctoral student to support the course design; and the opportunity to collaborate on course (re)design with a group of peers from across campus. This program is a partnership between Duke Learning Innovation and Bass Connections.
