NATIONAL: The Environmental Media Association (EMA) Awards will go virtual this year, taking place on Aug. 21 via YouTube and Facebook. Hosted by activist and entertainer Lance Bass, the annual event celebrates environmental messaging in the film and television industry; Walt Disney Company leads the nominations this year with eight. Hyatt Hotels Corporation has appointed Dina Fenili Niekamp as director of brand and marketing of all Miraval Resorts across the country. Niekamp has 14 years of hospitality experience, most recently serving as the director of sales and marketing at the Kimpton Gray Hotel in Chicago. LOS ANGELES: ABC7/KABC-TV will livestream the inaugural “Race and Sports” dialogue on Aug. 13 from the Rose Bowl Stadium. The event will launch the Rose Bowl’s first-ever nonprofit think tank, the Rose Bowl Institute. The discussion will be moderated by the RBI’s Brian Brantley with a number of panelists addressing the impact of sports on society, specifically in regards to improving inclusion, diversity, and equity. NEW YORK: Saved by the Max—a themed pop-up restaurant that has had runs in Chicago and Los Angeles—is making its New York debut. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the pop-up has pivoted to a socially distanced carryout experience. From Aug. 20-25, New Yorkers can get the "Bayside Preppy Pack," which offers a burger, "Tigers Tater Totz," a choice of "Spano Sides," and more. The experience will also take place in Chicago and Los Angeles on the same dates. ORLANDO/CENTRAL FLORIDA: The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort has named Sean Verney as area general manager. Verney has over 35 years of experience in the hospitality industry.
