Hi,
Before I jump into things, I'd like to extend my thoughts and best wishes to you if you happen to find yourself caught up in the recent wildfires and hurricanes hitting the US. I hope you remain safe and sound.
And if you're not impacted by these natural disasters, I'm very thankful for that! I also hope that you'll join me in sending your thoughts and prayers to those who are dealing with these unfortunate catastrophes.
Last week I shared how artists on FASO are growing their art sales at a faster rate this year in spite of all the unexpected challenges (i.e. a global pandemic, natural disasters, an election year in the US, etc.). I also shared how their success on FASO had to do with five things that we offer that you can't find together anywhere else. Here's a quick reminder of what these five things are:
A proven formula for generating consistent art sales called The BoldBrush Art Marketing Playbook (AMP) that we make available to all of our members for free. FASO, a powerful art marketing and selling platform with loads of new features that help our members sell their art, classes, workshops, instructional videos, courses and more right from their FASO artist website. Powerful selling channels and automated marketing in FASO that promotes our members to over 38K collectors and 70K fine artists every day. Free weekly art marketing webinars and resources to help them grow their art sales with AMP and FASO. And The Art Marketing Mastermind Group, one of the largest private Facebook groups for artists. It's a place where you can reach out to our experts and other artists to help you get up to speed and selling quickly with AMP and FASO.Today I'd like to provide you with some more details about the first item on the list, The BoldBrush Art Marketing Playbook (or AMP for short). I'm especially proud of this one, because it's something that I've been working on since I first started here at BoldBrush almost eight years ago.

Back then I was already an experienced digital marketer with over 20 years of success under my belt. As a matter of fact, I still remember my very first digital campaign. It was an email promoting a special offer for .NET and .ORG domain names to customers of Network Solutions (at the time, they were one of the only companies where you could register a domain name). It ended up being the most successful marketing campaign that the company ever ran at the time.
So imagine my surprise when I learned that the same techniques that had worked so well for me just weren't working at all for artists. I had a real mystery on my hands!
As I dug deeper into this mystery, I found out that it had nothing to do with the artists. Many of them were following the "expert" marketing advice that was being offered at the time to the letter. So something else was going on here.
That's when I reached out to a group of artists that I knew who were very successful at growing their art sales themselves. I asked them what they were doing and their answer was even more surprising to me.
You see, they had tried the same expert advice that many of the other artists had tried and it didn't work for them either. So they threw that advice out the window and started experimenting with their marketing in the little bit of time that they had available. And through trial and error, they all stumbled upon a set of best practices that worked really well for them.
What I found fascinating was that these best practices were based on a simple set of principles that form the foundation of AMP and guide all the work that we do here at FASO for our members:
Artists must own and control their own marketing to drive consistent art sales. They can’t rely on others to do it for them. The primary goal of marketing is to build a quality audience. This audience consists of collectors, fans, prospects, vendors, and even friends and family who deeply connect with you and your art. An artist’s number one marketing asset is their audience list. So you must work diligently to build a quality list over time. The best way to grow your audience is face-to-face. These days, this includes face-to-face interaction on platforms like Zoom and Facebook Live, and through videos that you share. The internet is not a great place to grow your audience. But it is great at helping you keep in touch with your audience until they are ready to buy art. Collectors don't buy art, they buy stories. More specifically, stories about artists and their artwork that make them feel good about their own story. Artists must consistently share their story with their audience to keep them engaged and more likely to buy from them. Artists must relentlessly focus on the most important marketing tasks or they run the risk of hurting their art sales. Artists must focus most of their time on their very best collectors and use it to make them feel special and appreciated.Using these principles as a guide, we built AMP into a remarkable formula that helps artists just like you to consistently grow their art sales in less time than they ever thought possible. And I know it works because I personally spent over 5 years testing and fine tuning this formula with hundreds of our members.
AMP works so well, in fact, that it's helped our members grow their art sales to the tune of $1.9M in sales so far this year!
And in case you're wondering, AMP is not another one-size-fits all solution that just works for some artists and not others. It's helped artists at all stages of their art careers grow their art sales because you can tailor it to your own unique situation.
Think of it like this. AMP is like a recipe book with instructions for cooking the most delicious and savory meals. And it includes instructions for which recipes you should try first based on how good you are at cooking and what you happen to have in your pantry.
I know this all sounds too good to be true. A proven formula that can help you consistently grow your art sales? One that helps you spend less time marketing, more time painting, and all while selling more art? No matter where you are in your art career? How can this all be true?
Well it is, and the great thing is that you don't just have to take my word for it. Here's what an actual FASO member, artist Jill Banks, shared with me about the impact AMP has had on her art sales when she first started putting our formula into action.
