Kaitlyn Lasitter survived, and doctors were able to re-attach her right foot. But they could not save her left, and Kaitlyn now walks with a prosthesis.
#2 Maker Of “Neuro” Drinks Agrees To Pay $500,000 In Fines and Restitution Neurobrands LLC, the Santa Monica-based maker of the “Neuro” line of drinks, has agreed to a permanent court injunction that requires it to change its marketing practices. The company will also pay $500,000 in penalties and restitution as part of a settlement with local prosecutors.

#4 Supreme Court Deals Blow to California PAGA ClaimsWashington, DC On June 15, in Viking River Cruises, Inc. v. Moriana, the U.S. Supreme Court held that the Federal Arbitration Act (FAA) preempts California’s Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA). The decision reverses standing precedent under California labor law, which had permitted class action labor lawsuits against employers even when workers had agreed to resolve employment disputes through individual arbitration.
#5 Seroquel Side Effects for the ElderlyPearblossom, CA Seroquel is a neuroleptic indicated for the treatment of bipolar disorder—and like most drugs carries a host of Seroquel side effects, including diabetes, tardive dyskinesia and even birth defects. However, there is a little-known use for Seroquel off-label that concerned the daughter of one Alzheimer's patient for whom she was caring.
#6 Zetia and/or Statins: The Good, the Bad and the UglyHalle-Wittenberg, Germany Can a drug designed to curb heart attacks also cause heart attacks in some people? Apparently, it's possible with statins or medication like Zetia when used in combination with a statin. Statins are designed to lower the "bad" cholesterol thought to be a contributing factor for heart attack and stroke, while leaving the so-called "good" cholesterol to do the good work that good cholesterol, ultimately, does.

#8 Equinox Employees Go Ahead with Three Class ActionsLos Angeles, CA Over 9,000 Equinox employees, including personal trainers and group fitness instructors, have been given the green light by a California federal judge to have their wage claims and other California labor laws resolved by three class actions rather than individually.
#9 Two men retaliated against for reporting sexual and racial harassment awarded $460 millionLos Angeles, CA Two former SoCal Edison employees who said they suffered retaliation at the Southern California utility after reporting sexual and racial harassment have been awarded more than $460 million by a Los Angeles County jury. Both punitive and compensatory awards have made history – the former is more than double of any previous employment verdict in U.S. history and the latter $22.37 million in compensatory damages for Martinez is believed to be one of the largest Fair Employment and Housing Act case in California labor law history.
#10 Texas Employment Law: Don't Wait to Take Your PTOHouston, TX Pete did his company a service by not taking Paid Time Off (PTO) in over four years of employment. Yesterday was his last day of work. He has accrued 150 hours of PTO, but Texas Employment law does not require that employers pay workers for earned but unused vacation upon termination, unless the employer has a written policy or past practice of doing so.
