Documentary Organization of Canada, National Screen Institute co-host Manitoba policy session at Gimli Film Fest

The National Screen Institute is co-hosting a session with Documentary Organization of Canada (DOC) as part of the industry summit at Gimli International Film Festival 2023.

Titled DOC National: Federal Policy Discussion with DOC National, the session will include discussion on crucial federal policy changes in the context of the Manitoba filmmaking industry.

The aim of the session is to ensure filmmakers stay informed about policies that affect them at ground zero, such as Bill C-11 and changes on the horizon for cultural funds from Heritage Canada.

The session will feature speaker Sarah Spring, executive director of DOC and moderator Joy Loewen, National Screen Institute CEO.

DOC’s mandate is to advocate for an equitable, sustainable environment for documentary production and to strengthen the sector within the broader cultural industry.

In addition, DOC is hosting a number of panels at Gimli including mental health in the documentary sector; one-on-one meetings with DOC and Elizabeth Klinck; and what can DOC do for Manitoba filmmakers.
