Matt Watterworth talks about upcoming feature In Plainview

Matt Watterworth (NSI Features First) recently spoke to The Calgary Journal about upcoming debut feature In Plainview, made with filmmaking partner and fellow NSI Features First grad Scott Westby.

In the interview, Matt talks about how creative differences with Scott actually help their work, the realities of producing on a micro budget, and working with mentor Robert Cuffley (also an NSI Features First grad).

In Plainview, described by Matt as a revenge thriller, follows a dirty ex-cop recently sprung from prison who seeks vengeance on the former partner who sold him out.

NSI grads named finalists in Cannes In Development programs

MIPTV and CanneSeries have announced the participants for this year’s Cannes Drama Creative Forum, happening next month.

Revival from Joseph Kay (NSI Totally Television) is one of 12 projects selected for In Development Cannes Drama Creative Forum, a two-day event dedicated to fast-tracking new drama productions at an international level. Co-organized by MIPTV, this program acts as an accelerator for writers and producers.

Made With Love from Laura Perlmutter’s (NSI Drama Prize) First Love Films is one of six finalists selected for the Cannes Drama Forum’s Digital Short Form Series Pitch competition. The finalists will pitch their projects on April 10 on the In Development stage at MIPTV.

Farpoint Films announce production of new series My Misdiagnosis

Farpoint Films‘ John Barnard, Chris Charney and Kyle Bornais (all NSI Features First) have announced that production on new medical series My Misdiagnosis will start in April 2018.

Each hour-long episode features two factual stories told by patients and survivors about how they were misdiagnosed by a medical professional and thankfully sought out a second opinion that ultimately saved their life.

The 26-episode medical mystery documentary series will be filmed primarily in Manitoba with an all-Manitoba cast and crew.
