Zellco Productions’ Blondies: A Winnipeg Legacy premieres October 10, Winnipeg Cinematheque

Blondies: A Winnipeg Legacy from producer David Zellis (NSI Totally Television) and writer/director Craig Guiboche (CBC New Indigenous Voices) of Zellco Productions celebrates its premiere at the Winnipeg Film Group’s Cinematheque on Tuesday, October 10. Admittance to the screening is free.

The film screens at 7 p.m. and is followed by a reception at Zellco Productions’ office, 202-70 Arthur Street.

The MTS Stories From Home doc profiles Winnipeg restaurant owner Sandy Doyle and her diner Blondies.

Penny McCann’s Gibraltar Point (transformed) screens in Johnson City, New York

Experimental short film Gibraltar Point (transformed) from Penny McCann (NSI Drama Prize) has been making the festival rounds in Canada and beyond.

After premiering at the International Festival of Films on Art in Montreal in March, it has gone on to screen in Hamilton, Victoria and Paris.

Gibraltar Point (transformed) was created during a residency at Artscape Gibraltar Point on Toronto Island. In the film the random alchemy of hand-processing techniques creates a landscape that transcends the observable, edging into the sublime.

It screens next at Transient Visions: Festival of the Moving Image in Johnson City, New York on Saturday, October 21 at 6 p.m.

CBC New Indigenous Voices film Forgotten screening at UWinnipeg film fest

Congratulations to Jesse Spence, Alexis Leask and Andy Lown whose CBC New Indigenous Voices film Forgotten screens this month at the University of Winnipeg (UWinnipeg) Film Festival.

The film is part of a shorts program screening on Thursday, October 19 at 8:30 p.m. The festival takes place at the Asper Centre for Theatre & Film, 400 Colony Street in Winnipeg.

Admission to the UWinnipeg Film Festival is free and everyone is welcome.
