Orlando Braun’s Graffiti Stories screens at Canadian School of Peacebuilding mini film fest, Winnipeg

Graffiti Stories, a short doc produced by Orlando Braun (NSI Business for Producers), screens at the Canadian School of Peacebuilding Mini Film Festival at Canadian Mennonite University in Winnipeg on June 21, 2017 at 7 p.m.

In the documentary, rapper and host Ismaila Alfa discovers urban youth who find their passion and legitimacy in urban arts, including graffiti, rap and hip hop dance.

The screening is followed by a peacebuilding discussion about how graffiti and hip hop help bridge cultural divides and promote peace and understanding.

Five NSI grads accepted to 2017 TIFF Studio

Congratulations to the NSI grads selected to the 2017 edition of TIFF Studio, TIFF’s professional development segment devoted to screenwriters.

This year the program shifts its focus to storytelling with the aim of strengthening and broadening the participants’ screenwriting ability through a series of inspiring and dynamic workshop sessions.

The program will run on a monthly basis from June 16 through January 2018 at TIFF Bell Lightbox. The mentoring sessions will focus on script development, pitching and creating memorable characters.

A dimension-travelling wizard gets stuck in the 21st century because cell phone radiation interferes with his magic.

With his home world on the brink of war, he seeks help from a jaded travel agent whom he mistakes for a great sorceress.

Without his powers to prove his identity she has trouble taking him seriously, but finally agrees to reveal the secrets of our world in exchange for a lunch date.

In the frontier days of the digital revolution, a team of Canadian engineers raced against NASA to be the first to design a computer processor that could transform satellite radar data into images of the earth’s surface.
