Michelle Latimer’s new series Rise to premiere at Sundance

Congratulations to Michelle Latimer (NSI Drama Prize) on her new VICELAND series Rise premiering at Sundance in 2017.

Rise, produced in partnership with VICE Studio Canada and APTN, will debut three episodes in the short-form episodic series in the special events category.

A condemnation of colonialism and a celebration of Indigenous people worldwide, Rise is a vibrant, gripping and immersive documentary series that takes viewers to the frontlines of global Indigenous resistance.

NSI grads’ short docs to air on CBC for Canada 150

As part of CBC’s Canada 150 programming for 2017, CBC will air a series comprised of short docs by Aboriginal filmmakers.

Among the films featured in CBC Short Docs: Indigenous are Four Faces of the Moon from Amanda Strong and Bracken Hanuse Corlett (NSI Aboriginal Documentary), This is What a Spill Looks Like from Zoe Hopkins (Featuring Aboriginal Stories Program), Woman Who Returns from Frederic Kroetsch (NSI Business for Producers) and Precious Things from Roxann Whitebean (NSI Aboriginal Documentary).

NSI New Voices grad Olly King is also featured as the subject of the film Call Me Olly from Jordan Molaro and Tyson Anderson.

CBC Short Docs: Indigenous content will be rolled out throughout 2017 across CBC’s digital platforms.
