Kim Guise of TELUS joins NSI board of directors

The National Screen Institute – Canada (NSI) is pleased to announce the appointment of Kim Guise, director of local and original programming at TELUS, to its board of directors.

“On behalf of the board, I’m happy to welcome Kim to NSI,” said Norm Bolen, chair of NSI’s board of directors. “Her work at TELUS and her experience and commitment to the Canadian screen industry are a perfect fit with NSI’s strengths in training writers, directors and producers.”

As director of local and original programming at TELUS, Kim oversees a multi-million dollar portfolio supporting BC and Alberta filmmakers and organizations. Since joining TELUS in 2013, Kim has played a key role in setting TELUS’ local content strategy and enabling TELUS to be an innovator and leader in local programming and the creative industries. Kim is passionate about enabling people from diverse backgrounds and experiences to tell stories that are meaningful to them and their communities.

Before joining TELUS, Kim spent 10 years in the western office of Telefilm Canada, a crown corporation that makes equity investments in Canadian content projects. Prior to that, Kim was a financial services lawyer at a national business law firm, with a practice that combined secured lending and entertainment law.

“I’m very honored to join NSI’s board of directors,” said Kim. “I look forward to contributing to a team that provides valuable training and development to Canada’s up-and-coming storytellers and content creators, launching productive careers and strengthening the industry.”

NSI bids a fond farewell to Ron Suter and Christine Shipton, both of whom are stepping down from NSI’s board of directors. The board and staff thank Ron and Christine for their longtime commitment and dedication to NSI.
