Coded picked up for international distro by Rockzeline

Congrats to the team behind TELUS STORYHIVE web series Coded, from Steve Neufeld and Joely Collins, which has been picked up for international distribution by French company Rockzeline.

Rockzeline collaborates closely with worldwide broadcasters, major studios, new studios emerging from the digital environment and entertainment start-ups.

Coded was one of four winning projects to receive $50K from TELUS in 2015.

Production starts on new feature Ordinary Days

Photography has begun on new feature Ordinary Days from directors Jordan Canning (NSI Drama Prize), Kris Booth (NSI Features First) and writer/producer Ramona Barckert (Movie Central Script to Screen).

The suspense drama tells the story of the disappearance of a young college woman from three different perspectives and is directed separately by Jordan, Kris and Renuka Jeyapalan. Each of the directors helms one of the film’s three chapters.

Production takes place in Toronto and Janetville, ON through mid-November.

From Our Dark Side contest seeks women-driven genre film ideas

National contest From Our Dark Side is seeking the best in Canadian women-driven genre film ideas including thrillers, science fiction, fantasy and horror.

To enter, you need to submit a three to five page genre film outline by January 6, 2017.

Winners receive a mentorship package designed to help get a feature-length project to the next stage. No previous film writing experience is necessary. Open to women writers only.

New for this year, winners will attend workshops at the Vancouver International Women in Film Festival and receive a transportation subsidy to the Frontières Genre Co-Production Conference in Montreal where they will meet with potential producers and buyers to receive feedback on their projects.

Ten projects will be shortlisted and juried by top genre creators. Five projects will be selected for mentorship.

Mentors confirmed so far include Karen Lam (NSI Drama Prize, NSI Totally Television) and Annelise Larson.
