Trish Dolman selected to receive funding from Hot Docs Ted Rogers Fund Posted: 20 Oct 2020 11:00 AM PDT The Hot Docs Ted Rogers Fund announced they will fund new film The Concert That Broke Up The Beatles from Trish Dolman (NSI Features First). The film follows a concert promoter, a documentarian and a Beatle in crisis right before the greatest rock concert in history. In 1969, the music world would be changed forever. Along with her director and co-producer Ron Chapman, Trish and her team represented one of five projects chosen to receive financial support from the Hot Docs Ted Rogers Fund. The fund was established in 2016 with the goal to support Canadian documentary filmmakers. Shirley Cheechoo receives Visionary Award at Reelworld Posted: 20 Oct 2020 09:42 AM PDT Congratulations to Shirley Cheechoo (NSI Storytellers, Telefilm Spark Plug Program), this year’s recipient of the Reelworld Film Festival’s Visionary Award. The award recognizes industry leaders who have dedicated decades toward changing the face of Canadian film and TV. Shirley is an award-winning Cree filmmaker, actor, writer and visual artist. Her film Bearwalker won the 2001 Reelworld Best Director Award and screened at Cannes Film Festival. She was recently announced as a new member of the Canadian Film Centre’s board of directors. Reelworld ran from October 14 to 19. Shirley concluded the festival with a one-on-one conversation with imagineNATIVE’s Jason Ryle about how she has pushed the boundaries of the industry.
