Films from NSI grads featured at Directors Guild of Canada BC showcase, September 6-8

Directors from British Columbia will be celebrated at the second annual Directors Guild of Canada (DGC) BC Directors Showcase, September 6 to 8 in Vancouver. The weekend includes screenings, Q&As and panel discussions across the city, showcasing work from BC directors.

Featured films from NSI grads include:

  • Short film We Came From the Sea from director Jeremy Lutter (NSI Drama Prize, NSI Features First) and writer Ryan Bright (NSI Features First)
  • That Higher Level from director John Bolton (NSI Drama Prize, NSI Totally Television)

All directors will be in attendance and will participate in Q&As and panel discussions about their work and careers.

Deadline extended: apply for NSI New Northern Voices by September 5, 2019

NSI New Northern Voices DEADLINE EXTENDED

If you’ve been thinking of applying for new training course NSI New Northern Voices, now’s the time. We’ve just extended the application deadline date until September 5, 2019.

NSI New Northern Voices is a FREE, four week, full-time course taking place at University College of the North in The Pas and offers an introduction to digital media-based storytelling for northern Manitoba residents aged 18+.

The program will deliver a well-rounded understanding of storytelling and media production skills, create an environment for long-term growth and build capacity for the screen industry in the region. The program aims to develop content creators to write, direct and produce stories from a northern Manitoba perspective.

To apply, you need to submit a letter describing your interest in the media industry, contact information for one reference and an idea for a three-minute fictional film. We want to hear from you!
