Paramount picks up Astrid’s Death List from Kyle Rideout, Josh Epstein

Paramount has picked up Astrid’s Death List, the latest feature film pitch from Kyle Rideout and Josh Epstein (both NSI Drama Prize, NSI Features First, NSI Totally Television).

LA production company Di Bonaventura Pictures is attached to produce.

Kyle and Josh’s most recent hit, Adventures in Public School, was developed through NSI Features First in 2014. The film had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, screened at festivals worldwide, won several awards and was picked for the TIFF top 10 films of 2017 list. The film opened in Canadian theatres in April 2018.

SuperGrid, developed through NSI Features First, premieres January 18 on Super Channel

NSI Features First-developed SuperGrid debuts tonight on Super Channel and plays regularly until February 11.

SuperGrid was developed through the NSI Features First training program in 2016 by producer Hugh Patterson and writer Todd McCauley. NSI Features First alumna Trinni Franke is also a producer on the film.

The film opens in an apocalyptic near-future, where mining conglomerates have turned Canada into a wasteland. A young smuggler is forced to convince his older brother to get back on the “grid” and help him deliver mysterious cargo. En route, they must contend with road pirates, rebel gangs, and each other, in this wildly entertaining ode to the post-apocalyptic sci-fi/action movies of the ’80s.

NSI Features First provides development training for writer/producer teams looking to produce their first or second feature film with strong commercial appeal. Over 20 feature films developed through the program have been produced since 1997.
