On June 1, we launched a fundraiser to finally, after over a decade, redesign our glitchy online magazine. Today, I have some good news to report! Over 243 donors came through to show they care about The Rumpus and we reached our initial goal of $10K a few days earlier than expected!
Our early supporters made it possible to announce a BONUS round: ALL additional funds raised by MIDNIGHT, PST TONIGHT will go toward increasing pay to the magazine’s contributors in 2023-24. It’s important to us to have both a functional, accessible website AND to work toward better compensation for the writers & artists who make The Rumpus worth reading!
If you've waited to give, here's your chance to directly benefit our contributors. Over 90% of the work we publish comes through our no-fee open reading periods. Many of the voices we publish are emerging, and The Rumpus is often their first major publication. No matter how much we raise by midnight, PST TONIGHT, all funds over $10.5K (that's $10K for the redesign + $500 for GoFundMe's processing fees) will go toward fairer compensation for this year's contributors.
