Good evening, Even if you didn’t get a chance to stop for an outdoor pint, visit the gym, get a post-lockdown cut, or opted not to get up at the crack of dawn to queue for Primark or your favourite boutique, you could feel it. The sense of the doors opening, of freedom hard-fought and earned, the sense of optimism and opportunity. The feeling that one day, if we tread carefully in our not-so-new normal, we will get our world back. The sun showed its face for the glorious, if chilly, twelfth yesterday and it felt fantastic. The hard work and preparations of all those shopkeepers and landlords, the hairstylists and the street cleaners, paid off as paying punters finally returned to an environment still changed but gradually coming back to us. Masks, hygiene measures, and social distancing may be the norm, but it was a chance to support those who have returned after a hard-year, with many hairdressers booked for months, shops busy and pubs doing a roaring trade. It was a day to remember and this is a chance to say thank you to all those who worked so hard to make it happen. Here's to spring and summer! Thanks, as always for your support, and as always please keep in touch. You can email me at [email protected] Regards, Nicola Adam Editor Blackpool Gazette Associate Editor Lancashire Post |
