Here is your daily round-up of the latest news from around Lancashire
View email online | | | | | Jan 8, 2021 | | | | | | Good afternoon, In news today, the cavalry have arrived in Lancashire. Well, the army anyway, as it has been confirmed 420 personnel will spearhead asymptomatic testing from Lancashire Police HQ in hotspot areas to get a better understanding of the virus. This is not the same mass testing that has previously taken place in nearby Liverpool so check out the story. Meanwhile, parts of the county were met with more snow today and some schools, previously open to children of key workers, were forced to close completely. Also in education news, a move to force schools to provide top quality education in lockdown, or be reported to OFSTED by parents, has understandably provoked fury. Schools were given just hours notice they were closing. Plenty of shops and market stalls remain open for those essential shops and need your support so we have shared many of those with a list of many of those open during lockdown as part of our #supportlocal campaign. And alterations have been approved to Preston's Harris Museum. We would love to hear how you are getting on with home-schooling, as key workers and your experience with testing or vaccination. If you would be happy to share your story please email reporter [email protected] As always, stay safe and keep an eye on lep.co.uk for all the latest news. Kind regards, Nicola Thanks for reading.
