Lafayette company to lay off 48

BY ADAM DAIGLE | Acadiana Business Editor

Southern Glazer's, the national liquor distributor with a Lafayette presence, will let go of 48 people at its West Pont Des Mouton facility.

The company has not announced reasons behind the layoffs, but it's believed to be part of its move to consolidate operations into a building in Ascension Parish.

This topic has been simmering for months since they sold their building back in 2023 to Stirling Properties. No one talked to me back then about what was going on, but now we may have an answer.

Distribution centers are hot items across the country, commercial real estate agents have told me multiple times. Lafayette could use more space. One is expected go up next to Lafayette Christian Academy when the owners can find a tenant.

You can read my story here.

Have a great weekend and thanks again for reading.
