Mariano Rajoy stresses that unemployment figures for April show "the largest reduction in recorded unemployment" in any month on record

The President of the Government, Mariano Rajoy, at the inauguration of a conference of the Association for Progress in Management, declared that "Spain can compete in talent" because it has people with commitment and determination and because it is "a country of opportunities". He also highlighted the social security figures, which saw more than 18 million contributors in the month of April.

Government distributes 1.89 billion euros among regional governments for active employment policies

This amount will rise to 2.02 billion euros following the approval of the 2017 Budget. The government also presented a report on employment trends, which shows that all growth is translating into job creation, and approved the Hydrological Plan for the Catalonia River Basin District.
