Mariano Rajoy and Barack Obama highlight healthy relations between Spain and United States

The acting President of the Government, Mariano Rajoy, met on Sunday at Moncloa Palace with the President of the United States of America, Barack Obama, during an official visit to Spain. At the meeting, they discussed such matters as the economic situation in the two countries, bilateral relations, the refugee crisis and issues relating to Latin America.

The acting President of the Government, Mariano Rajoy, received the President of the United States of America, Barack Obama, at Moncloa Palace on Sunday on an official visit to our country, the first to Spain by a President of the United States in 15 years and foreseeably the last visit President Obama makes to a European country in this role.

"A stronger, more united and better prepared NATO has come out of this summit", says Mariano Rajoy

The acting President of the Government, Mariano Rajoy, claimed on Saturday at the NATO Summit being held in Warsaw (Poland) that Spain has met the commitments, as a trusted ally, that it took on at the 2014 Wales Summit. It has taken part in operations in the Baltic, Poland, Turkey, Afghanistan and the Mediterranean and has managed to stop the defence budget from falling.

Mariano Rajoy attends NATO Summit

The acting President of the Government, Mariano Rajoy, will attend the 27th Summit of NATO Heads of State and Government in Warsaw (Poland) on 8 and 9 July, accompanied by the acting Ministers for Foreign Affairs, Jos Manuel Garca-Margallo, and for Defence, Pedro Morens, respectively.

The acting President of the Government, after being sworn in as a Member of the Lower House of Parliament, stated that "it would be a shame if those of us who were elected on 26 June were unable to form a government and for things to start getting complicated".

The acting President of the Government stressed that the unemployment data for July are "good" but, above all, "are an encouraging sign for the future and show that the great national objective for the next four years to have 500,000 more people in work each year can be achieved".

Government distributes 1.75 million euros among regional governments for resettlement and relocation of refugees
