Abortion pills criminalized: Two drugs used for abortions and in routine pregnancy care are officially under lock and key in Louisiana. Emily Woodruff has this look at how the law, which criminalizes the possession of mifepristone and misoprostol, is already impacting patients across the state. Progress on the Navy base: The long-delayed plan to convert the derelict Bywater Navy base into nearly 1,000 affordable apartments is finally moving forward, and visible progress could be coming soon. Tony McAuley has the story. Strangulation: One in four suspects in New Orleans domestic homicides in 2021 had previously committed a strangulation, according to a jarring report from the New Orleans Health Department. Despite its frequent role in a pattern of escalation demonstrated by abusers, strangulation goes largely unaddressed in the criminal justice system.
