| | | SFJAZZ | Cuban pianist Chucho Valdés presents his new 23-piece big band project, La Creación. Encompassing sacred Yoruba chants, Afro-Cuban rhythms, post-bop and what Valdés describes as “an atmosphere in the style of Miles Davis’ Bitches Brew.” This is a career-spanning masterwork, similar to the music he created in Irakere.
