and On Common Ground: Economic Inequality & the Housing Crisis
On Common Ground: Economic Inequality & the Housing Crisis | Thursday, September 12 | 6:00pm SPUR Urban Center, 654 Mission Street | |
| It’s not news anymore: the Bay Area has a housing crisis in need of urgent action. A housing shortage, plus rising rents and stagnant wages, are leaving more and more people vulnerable to homelessness. The crisis has prompted leaders from every sector--private companies, philanthropy, government, think tanks and community organizations--to design proposals, sponsor bills and launch coalitions for tackling the issue. Can these solutions outpace the problem, and the income inequality at its core? Co-presented by KQED and SPUR, this event brings together Fred Blackwell, Karen Chapple, Sarah Karlinsky, and host Mina Kim to discuss the complexities of the housing crisis, the proposed solutions, the legacy of Prop 13, and more. | |
