K-Music meets classical as Korea comes to London2024’s K-Music Festival is already in full swing — bringing the scintillating sounds of Korea to London — but some of the juiciest performances are yet to come. On Saturday 26 October, there’s a rare chance to catch acclaimed soprano Hera Hyesang Park at Sinfonia Smith Square, performing selections from her critically-praised new album Breathe. Opera Wire recently called Hera’s live show — a modern reinterpretation of Korean folk music through classical techniques — “a celebration of vocal brilliance and cultural depth, promising a night of unforgettable music and emotional resonance." Then, on Wednesday 30 October, Korean four-piece Black String premiere their third album, Road of Oasis, at Kings Place. Fusing the traditional sounds of Korea with jazz, folk and rock, the album is inspired by the ancient Silk Road that brought together East and West, North and South — a fitting theme for a festival bridging cultures with music.
