A Minute And Change Got a spare minute? Use it to change your life. Our “A Minute And Change” series will help you become happier, healthier and more productive by doing one thing a little differently. This week’s tip comes from big mountain skier Lexi duPont on the one thing she does every day that makes her feel good:
Every morning I wake up, brush my teeth before anything and do 15 minutes of breath work. I lay flat on my bed and do 30 power breaths. In through the nose and out through my mouth like I am blowing up a balloon. At the end of the 30 breaths, I exhale all my air and hold for as long as I can. If I feel I need to take a breath, I hold just a little bit longer. Then I inhale as much air as I can and hold for 15 seconds. I repeat this three times and then sit in a short meditation and repeat my affirmations for the day. I find breath work helps wake me up and energize all my cells while setting good intentions for the day.
