Jasmine Gonzales was in court Thursday to testify during a bail reduction hearing for her boyfriend, Christopher Davila, who faces several charges in connection with the death of 8-month-old King Jay Davila. During the hearing, prosecutor Samantha Dimaio asked Gonzales whether Davila was the baby's father, as he has claimed. Gonzales, who is King Jay's mother, paused, then answered, "No." Gonzales, who is currently pregnant, made the shocking revelation during a bond hearing for Davila, who is being held on $1.25 million bail. Davila was in court for the first time since he was charged in hopes of getting his bail reduced. Dimaio then asked Gonzales, "Is he the father of the child you are pregnant with now, or is someone else the father?"  Gonzales replied, "He is the father." Davila faces several charges, including tampering with evidence by concealing a human corpse and causing serious bodily injury to a child. According to a search warrant obtained in February by the KSAT 12 Defenders, authorities believe King Jay died Jan. 4, the same day Davila, his mother and his cousin are accused of staging King Jay's kidnapping from a West Side gas station. Six days later, Davila led investigators to King Jay's body, which was buried in a backpack in a field. The Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed in February that King Jay's death was ruled a homicide caused by blunt force injuries. Gonzales testified that neither her family nor Davila's family can afford the bail set in his case. Davila's lawyer, Robert Behrens, argued that the bond was set too high and blamed it on the police chief, the Bexar County District Attorney's Office and what he called "excessive news coverage by the media." The hearing ended when Magistrate Judge Andrew Carruthers denied the reduction request. Judge refuses to lower Christopher Davila’s bond in Baby King Jay case.
