AND FINALLY ... Did you hear about the recent Waymo mishap? A few days ago near Phoenix, traffic cones stumped a Waymo One autonomous taxi. Instead of going around the cones during a turn, the carβs AI became confused and stalled. After Roadside Assistance was contacted, the Waymo car decided to try again β¦ but then it stopped between lanes blocking traffic. π When help finally arrived, the car took off, before stopping and letting a Waymo driver take over. While reading this story, I couldnβt help but think of a young kid learning how to walk. First you start β¦ then you stop β¦ and then you need some help to start again! πΆ How safe are self-driving cars? To find out, I had a great conversation with Consumer Reportsβ head of connected and automated vehicle testing. I learned some incredible stuff!
