The answer: B.) Electric lights for the tree. Edward H. Johnson, an associate of Thomas Edison, hand-wired a tree with 80 red, white and blue bulbs, about the size of walnuts. The tree was placed on a motor-powered, rotating pedestal so the lights could be seen from all angles.
