A New York City day care owner and an associate were both charged with conspiring together to distribute fentanyl in a home day care where three children fell ill and a 1-year-old later died, according to an unsealed complaint.

“Despite the daily presence of children, including infants, the defendants maintained large quantities of fentanyl, including a kilogram of fentanyl stored on top of children’s playmats,” the complaint said.
