Seven stainless steel cylinders run from top to bottom in Raúl Sánchez’s renovation of a 19th-century Barcelona house, cleverly integrating electrical and mechanical needs. But the home’s most dramatic geometric gesture is its spiral staircase, installed as another freestanding cylinder that never makes contact with any of the building’s brick walls.
