Keeping a focused eye on crime

Technology continues to improve law enforcement's tools for solving crimes, and home and business surveillance cameras are playing a growing role.

A new pilot program in Ascension Parish seeks to recruit residents and businesses to make their footage available to investigators, offering cash rewards as an incentive.


Ella Fitzgerald performed there. So did Nat King Cole and James Brown. Baton Rouge's Lincoln Theater was once a hot spot that catered to Black residents, but fell into disrepair as time passed.

Now community leaders say a renaissance is imminent for the theater, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
