Karen Carter Peterson, a leading Democrat from New Orleans, abruptly resigned Friday, citing mental health and a long-running gambling problem as she ended her 22-year legislative in the middle of the 2022 session. "At this time, I must place all of my energy on my own mental health and personal well-being," she said. REPLACEMENT ACT: The Red Hot Chili Peppers have a long and colorful history with New Orleans, dating from a riotous show at the Saenger Theatre in 1989. Their 2022 will appearance will be outdoors, as the band was announced Friday as the Jazz & Heritage Festival's replacement for the Foo Fighters.
