Raised on a ranch and schooled on a tribal reservation in Eastern Oregon, she has a unique perspective for describing historic places that have changed or vanished with the passage of time. Having lived and homesteaded in several remote areas of Oregon and Northern California, she is naturally drawn to places of solitude that encourage internal reflection and observation of nature. In the case of historic architecture, she admires craftsmanship and ingenuity that has stood the test of time, something she hopes her paintings will highlight. Lubbecke enjoys studying art history and incorporates many classical techniques into her work. Studies of the Hudson River Schools lend a naturalistic and harmonious feel, while Luminist and Tonalist elements help to refine the play of light on her subjects. She typically paints with acrylics, using a limited palette. She takes full advantage of the fast drying qualities of the medium to add layers, textures or glazes as needed to fully develop the scene, a technique that gives her paintings depth and luminous rich colors. With every painting she works to achieve depth and atmosphere that will invite the viewer to contemplate the scene with her. Over the last 20 years her paintings have been juried into many distinguished national exhibitions and are widely collected in the U.S. and Internationally. "With my techniques I strive to create a mood, atmosphere, and a degree of realism that will bring the viewer into my paintings, to experience the scene alongside me. I hope to share a sense of peace and love for nature". New Artwork by FASO Members Your art could be here tomorrow, for free.
