Last week, Foodwise Kids classes returned to the farmers market, filling the stalls with their laughter and boisterous energy, and filling their bellies with fresh, healthy produce. After meeting the farmers and selecting fruits and veggies using free market tokens, students used their five senses to taste their farmers market finds, from ripe peaches and figs to broccoli and tomatoes.
“It’s a good experience that gets them to try new things, and it’s a good thing for them to do together,” says teacher Terence, who brought his class of exuberant first-graders from SFUSD’s Edwin and Anita Lee Newcomer School. You help make these experiences possible for kids in your community when you donate to Foodwise.
Like you, we believe every kid deserves access to fresh, healthy food. Foodwise education programs serve 2,500 SFUSD students each year, prioritizing low-income classes who receive free and reduced lunch. As kids go back to school, we need your help today to keep programs like Foodwise Kids and Foodwise Teens going strong to help meet the demand from teachers and students.
