Slack isn't safe

Campaign Victory: Slack takes an important step to block abuse

On July 5, Slack announced it would soon be introducing a “Hide messages from another member” feature, allowing people to “support their needs for a safe and productive work environment.”

This comes shortly after a series of campaigns from Mozilla activists including: thousands signing our petition to slack; delivering your demands directly to Slack HQ with our partners at Fight for the Future; and joining a group of 96 rights organizations in sending a letter to Slack demanding the company protect its users by offering basic safety mechanisms.

It's not everything we asked for in our petition – we still want Slack to offer end-to-end encryption. Yet this is a significant milestone and worth celebrating as we work towards a full victory.
