It’s the Day of Judgment on four years of the Trump presidency. Who by Iowa and who by Maine? Who by ‘restoring the soul of America’ and who by ‘making America great again’? Haaretz offers you an opeds bonanza in honor of November 3rd.   We set off with Ambassador S. Fitzgerald Haney who sees four years of race-baiting and rising antisemitism reflected in his daughter’s query: ‘In America, do they hate Blacks or Jews more?'   Four years ago, Bethany Mandel wrote a fiery Haaretz oped declaring that a Trump win would mean 'the ascendancy of hate.' She nows calls those fears ‘hyperbolic nonsense.’ Joshua Shanes sees the justifications of Jewish ex-Never Trumpers like Mandel as a sign of deep indifference to both facts and human suffering.   David Rothkopf warns that Israel will pay the price for Netanyahu’s overdone complicity with a U.S. president who betrayed America’s norms, alliances and Constitution. Alex Griffing offers a sharp, deep dive into Biden’s unlikely allies: Republicans who shun Trump, and the wildly viral and caustic online campaigns they’ve produced to induce conservative to vote Biden.   As a rabbi, Daniel Landes has always avoided explicit political speech, but he can’t keep his peace when so many fellow Orthodox Jews find common cause, even values, with Trump. Avraham Bronstein explains how the ultra-Orthodox community’s retreat from an inclusive American democracy has paved the way for a fervent adoption of Trumpism. For Jonathan Tobin, Trumpism has exacerbated existing divides within the U.S. Jewish community, which now resembles two incompatible and warring tribes.   Anshel Pfeffer sees November 3rd as potentially formalizing an historic schism in the Jewish world, and warns that ‘Trump Jews’ are here to stay.   And on the last month of frantic pre-election peacemaking, Yonatan Touval queries the logic of bullying Sudan into embracing Israel, and Gabriel Mitchell asks if Biden will help Israel take on Erdogan’s expansionist Turkey.   To end with, two entirely opposite take on the wave of terrorist attacks sweeping Europe. Ali Al Nuaimi, the UAE’s counter-extremism czar, suggests the only way the West can win the war against Muslim extremism is mutual recognition: of the sacred Western value of free speech, and the scared duty of Muslims to protect the prophet Muhammed. Kunwar Khuldune Shahid disagrees: he sees a fundamentally hypocritical war of words by self-appointed Muslim world leaders against blasphemy, which cannot ever accept the real meaning of free speech.
