We’re excited to partner with Pacific Resident Theatre in Venice, CA, to bring A Bintel Brief to life. A Bintel Brief was the Forward's advice column wherein European Jewish immigrants, living on the Lower East Side of New York, unburdened their hearts and revealed their deepest truths.
Pacific Resident Theatre's production is an online dramatized documentary style performance of our historic advice column.

Boston breeds great Yiddish folk singers – after all, New England Conservatory is the only music school in the US where students can take a class on performing Yiddish folk music!
Join a new generation of Boston-based Yiddish singers keeping the tradition alive and fresh – Adah Hetko, Kirsten Lamb, Eden MacAdam-Somer and Abigale Reisman – and hear from them what it means to be part of this beautiful tradition. Hankus Netsky, founder of the Klezmer conservatory band, and Rukhl Schaechter, editor of the Yiddish Forverts, will lead a conversation with these four women and learn how they see their work in the context of Yiddish culture today.

Nearly 200 languages are spoken by New York City’s diverse citizens. They read in their own language, too — 95 ethnic and foreign-language newspapers circulate every day in the city. The Forward and the Museum of Chinese in America (MOCA) both have archives of historic immigrant newspapers. Join us as we dive in to discover how these two different communities in such close proximity used their newspapers to share information and build community.
