KQED invites you to a special preview screening of Ken Burns's new documentary Country Music, an eight-part, 16-hour look at the history of this truly American art form premiering on September 15 on PBS stations nationwide. The film follows the evolution of country music over the course of the 20th century, as it eventually emerged to become "America's music." At the film's hear are the stories and unforgettable songs of the trailblazing artists who created and shaped the genre — from the Carter Family, Jimmie Rodgers and Hank Williams to Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Charley Pride, Loretta Lynn, Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, Garth Brooks and many more — as well as the times in which they lived.
Following the screening, KQED's Mina Kim moderates a conversation with Ken Burns and his longtime collaborators, writer and co-producer Dayton Duncan and co-producer Julie Dunfey, about making the film and telling the story of this vibrant music and the people who gave it life. Tickets are available for a VIP Reception and Meet-and-Greet with Ken Burns from 6:00-7:00pm.
