Dear Friend, As many of you know, I'm convinced that humanity is on the cusp of an Era of Transformation. We’re being swept into a torrent of amazing, accelerating change, spearheaded by developments in technology that will transform our lives and our civilization. Much of my personal inspiration for this vision has come from one friend and colleague: Patrick Cox, editor of Mauldin Economics’ Transformational Technology Alert and Tech Digest. I met Patrick a decade ago after seeing a copy of his newsletter on biotechnology and how it is remaking human society and spawning new investment opportunities. I was already interested in technology and transformation, and so I began reading everything Patrick wrote. Of course, I had questions. I’m not quite certain how it happened, but we began a conversation that quickly grew into a friendship. For the past 10 years, we’ve been talking every week, and what I’ve learned from this extraordinary man has given me a new and healthier life. Patrick has proven he has a sharp eye for identifying transformational technologies, but it’s not just talent. He works at it full-time. He consumes medical journals and patent applications with all the gusto my family brings to Thanksgiving dinner. And he’s wired in, having spent decades accumulating the private phone numbers and email addresses of the most brilliant and determined researchers, scientists, and investors in the biotech world. The vision Patrick and I share is a big one—we believe in a bright future… but that’s after we deal with the “minor” problems that governments have created. Biotech will actually help in that effort: We’re convinced that biotech advances already in the pipeline could quickly allow people to work a decade longer and still have active retirements. That extension of healthspans and careers would go a long way toward solving our entitlement problems. Whether you venture into the whitewater of technological transformation as an investor or just as someone who wants to live longer and better, you need a reliable guide. For my money, there’s no better guide than Patrick Cox. To get to know Patrick’s work, you may want to start with a free copy of his special report, 3 Therapies That Could Erase the Scars of Aging. This report—an excerpt from his new book, The Methuselah Effect—covers promising therapies currently being worked on in biotech labs that could help you live well beyond your 90s, disease-free, and in excellent physical shape. You can get a copy of this report—as well as access to Patrick’s free weekly Tech Digest—by clicking here. Then, when you’re ready to get up to speed with the fast-moving world of biotech investments, turn to Patrick’s monthly Transformational Technology Alert. There’s huge momentum building in the biotech world right now, but the action won't be in the big ETFs. Instead, it will be the new, truly transformational companies that take market share and market cap from the big boys—and these are the players that Patrick knows intimately. I know that if you get to know Patrick and his work as I have, you’ll plunge into the Era of Transformation with a lot more confidence—and profit accordingly. Your looking forward to lots of change analyst, John Mauldin Chairman
