| Monday should have been a happy day for the LSU football team. Coming off their first win of the season, a 34-7 beating of McNeese State on Saturday night, the Tigers were poised to turn the page and begin preparing for their next contest with Central Michigan. But Monday quickly became a trying and somber day in the LSU Football Ops building. First, there was the news from coach Ed Orgeron during his weekly news conference that junior running back John Emery Jr. is academically ineligible and will not play this season. While that was awful news for a team that has struggled to run the ball in its first two games, the news that came later in the afternoon was much tougher to hear. LSU confirmed through a social media post that Kevione Faulk, a student worker for the program and the daughter of former Tigers' legend and current running backs coach Kevin Faulk, had died at the age of 19. "We are heartbroken with the passing of Kevione Faulk, and our thoughts and prayers are with the Faulk family and all of those who love Kevione," the team said in a statement. In lighter news, LSU learned its Southeastern Conference opener vs. Mississippi State on Sept. 25 will be televised by ESPN with an 11 a.m. kick from Starkville.
