Abandoned house damaged by fire

A house at the corner of 13th and Kansas streets was heavily damaged by fire Friday, Springfield Fire Chief Allen Reyne said.

Grades 9-12 go virtual until Oct. 1 at Calvary Academy

After a member of the high school teaching staff at Calvary Academy in Springfield tested positive for COVID-19, officials said grades 9 to 12 there will have remote learning Monday until in-person learning resumes Oct. 1.Junior high and high school classes were canceled Friday to allow teachers to prepare for remote learning, according to a letter from Principal Jay Hinckley, posted Thursday afternoon on Facebook.
