Also, stuck in traffic
By Bob WarrenHere's the Jazz Fest lineup: Big news today on the festival front: The folks that run the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival released this year’s music lineup Thursday. Elvis Costello, The Isley Brothers, Stevie Nicks, Dead & Company, Ludacris and lots more. Stay tuned to NOLA.com for more coverage. Trashing our lake: Add this to the “how the pandemic has changed things” list: A recent sweep in Lake Pontchartrain gathered discarded masks and gloves, in addition to the usual garbage that makes its way into the water. (Insert head-shaking GIF here.) Drawing the line: The bridge crossing the Tchefuncte River is as much a part of Madisonville’s maritime history as the river itself. But as the area has grown, the bridge’s frequent openings for boats on the Tchefuncte has become a source of frustration for motorists finding themselves in long traffic snarls, Marie Fazio reports. It's . . . Mike Hoss: The new Saints play-by-play announcer is Mike Hoss. The smooth-voiced New Orleans broadcaster will take the spot vacated by Zach Strief, who left the WWL-Radio team to become a Saints coach. Hoss will join Deuce McAllister in the booth. Happy birthday: Finally, we're a city that loves our musicians. And few are more beloved than Deacon John. He attended a party Wednesday to celebrate his 80th birthday. Photographer Chris Granger was there and offers this terrific gallery of photos. All this and much more in today’s Lunch Line. Thanks for taking a break with us. BW |
