Our FFT team put together a rather eclectic mix of NFL Draft content this week to spotlight tomorrow's breakout stars. Dan Schneier profiled Jaylen Wright who happens to be one of my favorite running backs in the 2024 NFL Draft. Wright is poised to provide his next team with a level of explosiveness that is uncommon at the position, and he could become a Fantasy stud due to his big-play ability. |
Heath Cummings gave us his top five tight ends in the 2024 NFL Draft. While there's only one draft-eligible tight end with a Round 1 grade, there are several others who could make an immediate impact next season. Dave Richard previewed the top wide receivers in the 2024 draft class and provided a player comparison for each prospect. The depth of this wide receiver class is staggering, and there are players who can be had in the middle rounds who could have an instant impact. |

Jaylen Wright NFL Draft profile |
Jaylen Wright is one of the most explosive backs to enter the NFL Draft in quite some time. At 5-foot-10, 210 pounds, he posted a time of 4.38 in the 40-yard dash. Out of 1,765 running backs tested at the NFL combine since 1987, his testing numbers place him 33rd at the position. I've been consistent with my desire to see Wright in a zone-rushing attack, and Dan seems to echo those sentiments by listing the Houston Texans as a prime landing spot for Wright. |
|
A player that Wright reminds me a lot of is Jerious Norwood, who was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in the third round of the 2006 NFL Draft. Norwood had a short career in the NFL, but teams are just now becoming comfortable giving consistent carries to backs under 220 pounds. It's a different day in the NFL, and running backs like Wright certainly have a purpose beyond just third-down responsibilities. If Wright is drafted by a team that runs a great deal of outside zone, he could be an impactful Fantasy player early in his NFL career. |
Great Fantasy value: If you aren't fortunate enough to select Jaylen Wright, another player you could draft and stash is Tyrone Tracy Jr. out of Purdue. Tracy is 5-foot-11, 210 pounds and seemingly does not decelerate once he's in the open field. If he ends up an undrafted free agent, he'll likely make a team's roster because of his versatility. Tracy is a former wide receiver who converted to running back last season. |

2024 NFL Draft tight end preview |
Brock Bowers has consistently ranked as the No. 1 tight end on many draft boards since the conclusion of the 2022 football season. He made an immediate impact at Georgia, amassing 882 yards on 56 catches. Bowers is a freakish athlete who maintains the same intensity on every down. Due to his passion, he's drawn several comparisons to George Kittle, which in my opinion, isn't entirely farfetched. |
|
Heath Cummings also discusses other tight ends such as Theo Johnson, Ben Sinnott, and even lists other names to watch for in the draft like Erick All. However, there's one tight end that wasn't listed that I'm looking forward to seeing make his presence felt in the NFL… |
Great Fantasy value: Jaheim Bell offers many of the qualities that Bowers does, so if you miss out on Bowers, Bell is an excellent consolation prize. He plays with great intensity and provides significant position flexibility. Bell is aggressive yet highly instinctive with the ball in his hands. He played a considerable amount of running back at South Carolina before transferring to Florida State. |

2024 NFL Draft wide receiver preview |
Not only did Dave Richard provide us with his top seven wide receivers in the 2024 NFL Draft, but he also offered comparisons for each prospect. As usual, his comparisons are spot-on, but we have differing opinions on Rome Odunze. While Richard compares Odunze to Alshon Jeffery, I see more similarities to Keenan Allen in terms of route running smoothness and the ability to play above the rim. Once you notice these similarities, it's hard to unsee them. |
|
The player that reminds me a lot of Alshon Jeffery is Xavier Legette. You don't find many players as explosive as he is walking around at 230 pounds. Dave highlights route running as an area Legette could improve upon at the next level, and he's absolutely right but much of that can be cleaned up by learning not to give defensive backs indicators. Additionally, Legette is likely to make an impact in the return game early in his career. I'm excited to see how his skill set translates to the NFL. |
Great Fantasy value: Devontez Walker likely walks into an NFL locker room and becomes an instant deep threat. He tracks the ball exceptionally well and will be a primary target for someone on deep over routes off play-action. While he's not yet a complete receiver and needs to improve at finding ways to break inside when defenders have inside leverage, I wouldn't be surprised to see him carve out a role as a deep threat in an NFL offense during the 2024 season. |
